About BuildingBeam LLC
Mission: BuildingBeam aims to revolutionize the way property data is accessed and utilized globally. The mission is to empower property owners, potential buyers, renters, contractors, real estate agents, property managers, campus planning analysts, and city officials with a comprehensive, easy-to-use platform that provides instant access to detailed property histories and permit information.
What BuildingBeam Offers: BuildingBeam aims to develop interactive maps that integrate advanced artificial intelligence technologies, including large language models, to process and present information about properties. This allows users to easily access consolidated data on property renovations, permits, and historical work—all in one place. The platform aims to support free-text inquiries, enabling users to ask specific questions about property-related activities within their vicinity, such as major plumbing projects, contractor details, and associated costs.
Technology: At the heart of BuildingBeam is a simple but powerful methodology that intelligently concatenates key pieces of information for each property into a single text blob. This method not only simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need to download and browse large, raw data tables but also provides actionable insights through advanced search capabilities. Users can inquire about any work accomplished on properties, ranging from kitchen renovations to electrical updates, and receive comprehensive, easy-to-understand responses.
Vision for Expansion: Initially focused on Cambridge, MA, BuildingBeam is designed to be scalable and adaptable to any city worldwide. The long-term goal is to include all properties globally, enhancing transparency and accessibility in real estate transactions and property management.
Founder Background: BuildingBeam™ LLC, a Massachusetts-based company, was founded on October 18, 2024, by Uri Kartoun, a robotics PhD with over 16 years in the U.S., having worked for Microsoft, Massachusetts General Hospital, and IBM Research. Uri’s professional background includes holding over seventy-five patents with the U.S. Patent Office. In addition to his technical expertise, Uri brings a hands-on understanding of trustee responsibilities, having served as a trustee in a large condominium building in North Cambridge, MA, for nearly three years during the pandemic (between Septmber 2019 and March 2022). This experience inspired the creation of BuildingBeam—a platform he wished had existed during his trustee tenure to address building management challenges through shared insights and advanced data solutions.
About the Name: The name 'BuildingBeam' carries a dual meaning, making it both symbolic and unique. The term 'beam' represents a communication or laser beam, emphasizing the connections the platform aims to foster among different stakeholders including property owners, potential buyers, renters, real estate agents, property managers, and city officials. Simultaneously, beams are fundamental structural components of buildings, often made of steel, symbolizing strength and support. Together, these meanings encapsulate BuildingBeam’s mission to build strong, connected communities and empower users with tools for efficient and sustainable building management.
Intellectual Property: BuildingBeam LLC owns intellectual property in the form of utility patent-pending technologies, including a trademark that covers the platform’s unique approaches.
